Tread Lightly Charitable Trust

The Tread Lightly Charitable Trust's vision is to "Inspire New Zealanders to live Sustainably”. This vision is achieved through two mobile environmental classrooms; the Tread Lightly Caravan and the Tread Lightly Drain Game which visit primary and intermediate schools across the Auckland region.

The Tread Lightly Caravan is filled with interactive activities to teach and inspire students to reduce the environmental impact of their every day lives. The Tread Lightly Caravan has a focus on sustainable living in an urban environment. The Tread Lightly Drain Game teaches students the difference between the stormwater and waste water systems, that "only rain goes down the stormwater drain" and the effects of pollution and contaminants in our creek and stormwater systems.

The long term goals of Tread Lightly are to teach Auckland students and their families about the environmental consequences of their everyday urban lives and to inspire behaviour change that results in environmental benefits such as reduced waste to landfill and less litter and pollution in our creeks.
