About the Webinar Name

“Mate whenua, mate tangata" speaks to the interwoven relationship between people and land in te ao Māori. This name acknowledges that the wellbeing of tangata is inherently tied to the wellbeing of whenua. But this discussion is also about hope and healing. Mate Whenua, Mate Tangata invites us to break the cycle through reconnection: to stand in our whakapapa, embrace mātauranga Māori, and uplift each other as a collective — especially our rangatahi.

It’s a reminder that when we heal our whenua, we begin to heal ourselves.
