About the Speaker

Katie Earle is a practitioner-researcher and connector, working alongside schools, bush school providers and communities across Aotearoa to support primary-aged tamariki whose needs are not met in the classroom.  She has led multi-year national research into Unconventional Spaces of Learning (USol), where place-based practice and support for the nervous system emerged as central to student engagement and belonging.

The work was a collective effort, shaped on the collaboration and wisdom from whānau, schools and providers, and advisors.  Katie's current focus is on supporting connection and shared learning through a Community of Practice, so practitioners are not working in isolation, but together strengthening one another and the kaupapa.
