NZAEE Conference 2022

Reconnecting with each other, nature and place

Join us on 11 - 12 October, local and online

HĀ HAUORA TANGATA

Providing a space to pause, take breath and reconnect with each other and the places that we work and live in.

The upcoming NZAEE conference will provide teachers and educators with an opportunity to step way from the stresses of recent years, and look at  place-based, environmental education with fresh eyes and perspectives.

This is not your average conference.

While recognising the ongoing difficulties our communities are facing, we have also been given the opportunity to reimagine how we learn and connect, and our conference format reflects that.

We'll begin with local connections: Tuesday 11 October

We will begin our conference with Local Connection Days in 15 locations across the motu, providing a chance to meet with others, get out in nature and the community, and take action where possible.

With a focus on networking and collaboration, you will have the opportunity to connect with other teachers, educators, mana whenua, community groups and young people. Activities and contexts will be related to the social and natural history of your local place and reflect the unique issues and opportunities in your community.

Registrations for the Local Connection Days have now closed, but you can still register for the Online Day.

Then move online: Wednesday 12 October

We will then move to our National Online Day, with inspiring speakers who will explore our reconnection theme from a range of perspectives: starting with the big picture, looking at worldviews and values, to the Aotearoa education context, with research, stories and examples of integrated curriculum design, equitable responses to climate and biodiversity challenges, and place-responsive relationships with the community and te taiao.

You can find more information about our speakers on the National Online Day page and the draft programme will be added soon. The day will be held on the Zoom platform from 9am to 4:30pm, with regular breaks for you to move offline, reflect and refresh.

Online presentations will be recorded and available after the conference, with exclusive access for delegates who have registered for the online day. Don't miss this opportunity to access learning from over 20 inspiring speakers.

Final chance to register: registrations are open until October 7th for the National Online Day.
Local Connection Day registrations have now closed.
