Term Three Seasonal Learning

Even though we're still in winter, the days are getting longer and spring is in sight! The start of the term is a great time get plants in the ground for your biodiversity projects, and you can analyse your school's waste systems during Plastic Free July. Share your favourite nature books during Children's Book Week or focus your learning on pollinators during Bee Aware month. The end of term brings Te Wiki o te reo Māori, Clean up Week and the Bird of the Year competition.

4 - 20 September Bird of the Year Te Manu Rongonui o te Tau

Forest and Bird's annual event returns (current information is still from the 2025 competition but will be updated closer to the event).

12 September Publication of final curriculum for all other learning areas for Yr 0 - 10.

Week 9

14 - 20 September Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 

Use the ‘Te Reo Māori’ filter in our Resource Catalogue to find resources that are bilingual or available only in te reo Māori. 

18 - 25 September Keep NZ Beautiful Clean Up Week 

You can register your school, centre or group to receive support and resources.

Week 10

27 September  World Rivers Day

Use this international day of awareness as an excuse to explore your local awa or take part in a freshwater education programme. Check out Whitebait Connection for resources and programmes.
