Join Simone Marsters from Pokapū Akoranga Pūtaiao Science Learning Hub in a session exploring how akongā can be supported to confidently navigate, apply and make meaning across multiple ways of knowing. Having multiple knowledge systems to draw on is a taonga that is potentially available to every young person in Aotearoa.
Guest kaikōrero are Sheryl Helleur and Sherree Clarke, experienced teachers and leaders from kura in Tauranga Moana. Together, will share how co-existing knowledge systems are being explored in the classroom – drawing on mātauranga Maōri and mātauranga auraki (mainstream education) building a richer and more relevant knowledge base. This session will be valuable for both primary and secondary school teachers.
