Taupō Environmental Education Collaborative was formed in 2017 to bring together Taupō’s environmental education providers so we can provider better services to schools and our community.
Through our collaboration we learn from, support, and build on each other’s success, together providing better environmental education for students of all ages across the Taupō District.
Each year we produce a beautiful A2 calendar for all schools in our district, sharing opportunities for learning, professional development, and contacts for our member organisations. We collaborate to present four or more professional learning opportunities annually, based on topics and skills relevant to our own programmes or any other learning context as called for by our kaiako community. We also aim to connect with our wider community through free public events, and by sharing our stories in local media.
We have a ‘core’ team of organisations that keep us going that include Kids Greening Taupō, Taupō District Council, Enviroschools, and the Department of Conservation. We remain open to different levels of commitment from others which in reality sees fluctuating involvement from additional groups and organisations.
We meet every couple of months, preferably with kai!
