For our Term Two webinar we have invited Rachel Bolstad from NZCER to talk with us. Rachel and her team have been researching educational policy and practice for a changing climate since 2019.Their work ranges from climate justice to school carbon footprints, and we have asked her to speak about what schools can do, wherever they are on their journey.
We know that having a school voice was popular in last term’s webinar, so we have invited teachers Kate Armour and Brent Silby, from Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery in Ōtautahi, to talk about their new, cross-curricular Climate course. They will discuss how the Year 9 - 11 course was developed, the logistics of working across learning areas, and the highlights and changes that have naturally evolved based on student interest and agency. Kate will also give an update on the Climate Action Campus being developed on the edge of the red zone, which will act as a satellite campus for Ao Tawhiti and will also be used by students from other schools in the area.
