Aotearoa Youth COP 2025

Aotearoa Youth COP 2025
Aotearoa Youth COP 2025, New Zealand’s youth-led national simulation of the United Nations climate negotiations (COP).

Supported by the Youth Climate Collective (YCC), Save the Children NZ and Ngā Ara Whetū (Centre for Climate, Biodiversity and Society), the event invites 100+ young people from across the motu to take part in interactive workshops, climate policy negotiations and powerful discussions on some of the most pressing issues facing our generation.

Participants will take on roles representing different stakeholder groups, such as journalists, policymakers, Indigenous communities, NGOs, healthcare workers and more. Working in teams, they will create, debate and negotiate agreements, just like real global leaders! Each session is designed to build your leadership, negotiation, systems thinking and collaboration skills in a supportive and action-focused environment.

At the end of the day, the insights and policies developed will be collated into an Aotearoa Youth Climate Statement, which will be delivered to the New Zealand Government and presented at COP30 in Brazil by a delegation of young leaders.
