This event is part of the Seaweek series and is hosted by the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre (MERC).
Here are the key details:
To celebrate World Ocean Day we are bringing together people that are passionate and curious about the ocean - and inviting everyone interested in learning more about their big blue backyard.
Join us at MERC, in Long Bay, for an event featuring:
An opportunity to meet new people, connect with your community, and learn about restoration projects which are underway in the Gulf.
An open invite to join in on a water activity or group swim (sea state dependent) to reap the benefits of physically connecting with our sea despite winter water temps, set to occur between 5 & 5:15 pm, coinciding with sunset at 5:12 pm.
This will be followed by warm showers for those that need them, and an offering of hot drinks and warm food inside the MERC hall.
The seminar portion of the event will start at 6:30 with plenty of time for questions and networking afterwards.
Presentations will feature insight from marine scientists, community leaders and other passionate people in the marine conservation & restoration space.
