Why join?

Becoming a part of our 350-member strong organisation will allow you to have a voice in the future of environmental education in New Zealand.  Our members come from a variety of backgrounds, but they all have a common interest in building stronger environmental education opportunities across all sectors of society. 

Environmental education that is not just "in" but also "for" the environment.

Our work:

  • providing a network for building relationships to share information and resources;
  • producing a regular e-newsletter;
  • co-ordinating national Seaweek events;
  • delivering a stimulating national biennial conference;
  • supporting and providing local workshops and other events;
  • advising on environmental education and education for sustainability issues;
  • actively participating in a number of initiatives including the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development;
  • advocating for the environment recognising it is inextricably linked with social, cultural and economic aspects of sustainability.

Membership in NZAEE entitles you to:

  • national and branch information and updates;
  • a newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on environmental education news and events;
  • discounted entry to NZAEE conferences and workshops;
  • access to a national network of environmental educators.

Membership types

Student/low wage ($25.00):

For the student or individual (not working full time or on a low wage), this membership still allows you to contribute to the organisation supporting its mission and objectives.  (The mission and objectives are in our constitution.  You can download this from the 'About Us' webpage.)  Low wage is considered earnings of $24,000.00 or less per year.

Individual ($40.00):

The individual membership provides a 12month membership where you can enjoy the benefits of local and national networking.

Non-governmental organisation/School/Not-for-profit ($50.00):

A membership for schools and small non-profit organisations, this membership types allows up to two nominees.

Corporate ($200.00):

For the corporate business, central, regional and local government this membership allows up to 5 memberships.

Stakeholder ($500.00):

This membership gives organisations with the option of providing additional support and building a closer alignment with NZAEE, its mission and objectives.
