About the Waikato Branch

Our branch covers the Waikato region from Taupo to the Bombays and out to each coast.  We are a diverse and dynamic region containing New Zealand's longest waterway, as well as volcanic regions, coastal forests, pastoral farming, and extensive urban and rural communities.

Our main city Hamilton, is the hub of the Waikato with many rural townships throughout the region.  This region is famous for being green, but we want to make it Greener...

Our environmental educators are teachers, advocates, local government staff, students and community members committed to improving attitudes and behaviour towards the environment.  The projects, people and places we get involved with vary from school programmes to community monitoring, landcare projects, recycling, ecological restoration, backyard gardening, energy efficiency and much more.

The Branch offers access to environmental education resources and a network of local, like-minded people with skills and experiences in EE.  We encourage the sharing and development of these skills through formal workshops, visits to educational sites, informal meetings and forums, and guest speakers.
